Purpose:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
-
To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
-
To support the mission of the church worldwide
-
To work for justice and peace
-
To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom
Presbyterian Women (PW) includes all women within our church community. Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month include breakfast at a local diner, a business meeting, and Bible Study. The organization supports several mission activities including our annual Presbytery project, Westminster Village, a Presbyterian Retirement community in Allentown, PA and a Native American child who lives in South Dakota.
Among the activities that PW sponsors every year are a Christmas luncheon during Advent at a local restaurant which includes individuals beyond our local group and in the spring of each year an outing to a local playhouse to see a live performance.
Presbyterian Women have adopted our church kitchen as their special fundraising project within our own congregation. Since the dedication of our new church building in 2006 PW has purchased and installed equipment for the kitchen. In May 2009, eight members of PW received Food Safety and Laboratory Services certificates from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Agriculture. This training brings Community Presbyterian Church in compliance with state requirements to operate our church kitchen.
